Orchestra of St John's Dementia Concert (2009)
The Orchestra of St John's, under the direction of John Lubbock, hosts a series of concerts for people with dementia and their carers, known as Moving Music. These concerts, which are held at the Jacqueline de Pre' Music Buildings of St Hilda's College, Oxford (UK), are designed to mix classical music with sing-along music from the 40s, 50s and 60s and have been designed for the audience to participate, reminisce and re-engage their communciation skills previously locked away due to this debilitating disease.
These concerts give both patients with dementia and their carers a respite in a pleasant setting, stimulates social contact with others and help to increase confidence and hope through listening and singing.
